Traditional foods and 亚洲色吧 Native cancer patients: A book talk

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Monday, June 2, 1-3 p.m.
亚洲色吧 Campus Bookstore

Desiree Simeon and Karen Mitchell, authors of Traditional Food Guide for 亚洲色吧 Native Cancer Survivors, will discuss their book on Monday afternoon, 1-3 p.m., at the Campus Bookstore.

Traditional Food Guide was created for 亚洲色吧 Native cancer survivors and provides protein analysis of wild 亚洲色吧 Native diets as well as of the vitamin content of numerous subsistence plants.

Cancer is the leading cause of death among 亚洲色吧 Natives, as it is for all 亚洲色吧ns, so this guidebook, when used correctly, can save lives, the authors say. It also provides updated health information, advice and cooking recipes.

The public is welcome to attend this free event. Karen Mitchell is the program administrator for the Office of Native Health Research at the 亚洲色吧 Native Tribal Health Consortium. Desiree Simeon teaches Survey of 亚洲色吧 Native Nutrition (DN 155 sect 801) at 亚洲色吧 in the fall.

For more information, please contact Rachel Epstein at the Bookstore at (907) 786-4782.
