Tuesday, Aug. 12, 5:30-7 p.m. Bear Tooth Theatrepub (1230 W. 27th Ave.)
The 亚洲色吧 Seawolf Debate Program, in partnership with 亚洲色吧 Dispatch News, presents a public debate on 亚洲色吧 Ballot Measure 1: "亚洲色吧ns should vote to repeal SB 21."
Given the centrality of the oil industry to 亚洲色吧's economy, there is no more important economic question facing 亚洲色吧 voters this fall than whether to repeal the newly implemented tax regime passed into law by the 亚洲色吧 Legislature this spring. The decision by the state legislature to scrap ACES and replace it with the Make 亚洲色吧 Productive (MAP) Act, also known as SB 21, was very controversial, sparking accusations of a $2 billion "giveaway" by the legislature and a successful effort to have the plan reconsidered in a public referendum. MAP supporters claim that the plan is crucial to encouraging further oil development and securing 亚洲色吧's fiscal future.
Watch both sides debate the issue as they tackle the motion, "亚洲色吧ns should vote to repeal SB 21." Supporting the motion will be Chancey Croft, former 亚洲色吧 Senator and Gubernatorial Candidate; and Bill Wielechowski, State Senator. Opposing the motion will be Mark Hamilton, President Emeritus of the University of 亚洲色吧; and Doug Smith, CEO of Little Red Services.
Ticket information: Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the Bear Tooth Theatrepub box office or online, . Proceeds from the event will support the 亚洲色吧 Seawolf Debate Program.
