Biography
Upon obtaining her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance (Dec. 1992), Linda Porter began teaching as a temporary music teacher at the Anchorage Junior Academy. That experience prompted her to pursue both a Bachelor of Music, in Elementary Education (certified) and a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, which she completed concurrently in 2001. Later, Linda set up a private voice home studio in 2006, and joined the ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Music Department as an Adjunct Professor in the Fall of 2018. Her 30 years of teaching experience includes both private and public-school settings within the Anchorage area. She has worked with Middle School and High School choirs, hand chime choir, K-6 general music and small instrumental ensemble groups. Her main focus has been teaching private voice students. Some of her students have placed in NATS ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Competitions and in ASAA All-State Festivals including a Command performance. Linda has performed in various community groups including The Anchorage Opera, Anchorage Concert Chorus, Bel Canto ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and Frontier Baroque. Other performances include solo recitals, guest recitals and ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Opera Productions under the direction of Dr. Mari Hahn, Symphony of Sounds and ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Festival of Music. Linda enjoys teaching her students, seeing them develop their voices both personally and artistically.
